Weekly Command: Run Discovery on Your Own Company
Most 2027 revenue numbers will get chosen by leadership that doesn’t isolate what stands between the company and the money. I learned what that costs early in my consulting career, when I walked into a new client with a proposal instead of questions. Eight months later I was fired, and my last $12,000 invoice was never paid. Chapter 1 of my book will tell the whole story. Since then, every engagement I take starts with discovery, and this week your 2027 plan starts there too.
Step 1 is Discovery, and every step after it depends on what you learn here.
With clients, I spend 60 to 90 minutes asking questions, with no pitching and no stories, only their answers. Staying neutral is what lets me build a strategy that belongs to them and not to me. This week you run that same session on your own company, and you are the client.
Your Weekly Command is to run the Discovery Protocol on your own business and write down three things: what you want in 2027, the revenue number behind it, and what is really in the way.
To get honest answers from yourself, set it up the way I would for a client:
Book the session. Block 90 minutes this week, alone, with the Discovery Protocol open and your phone in another room. Answer every question in writing. If an answer turns into a story, cut it down to the fact.
Answer as the client, not the consultant. Work through every category, from your sector and growth through pipeline, team, impact and partnerships. If you catch yourself blurring a number or shrinking a goal before you finish writing it, stop and ask yourself the follow-up you’d ask a client. That’s usually where a shift shows up.
Run the three-question test. Before you call it done, answer the three questions I ask myself before I write any client’s plan: Do I know what I actually want, meaning what the company needs rather than what I keep saying? Has my team consented to this direction, or am I assuming? Can I deliver what the shift requires? If you can’t answer all three, you aren’t done discovering.
This is real work, and it should be uncomfortable. Half of my clients have used this process to hit or exceed their revenue goal, and the ones who fell short had real reasons that got in the way. Some stayed with it and eventually got there. I’m all about bucking up and getting there on time.
The Discovery Protocol is in the Free Tools space, inside the Action Lanes space group of the Boardroom Dominatrix community. In the book coming out in November, it follows Chapter 1.
Cohort members, I’ll see you today at 11am Pacific. Two spots are still open in this cohort, and the next one won’t convene until Q1 2027. The beta is $100, so if you want one of those spots, say so in the comments or send me a message before 10am. If you’re working solo, you’re on the same schedule, and next Monday we move to Step 2.
I’ll go first. I’m running the Protocol on Boardroom Dominatrix this week, and I’ll share what I find in the comments. Add yours in the comments below.

Let’s make it an extraordinary week, shall we?
